‘Left Out’: In These Times Follows Seed the Vote Volunteers in North Philly

Seed the Vote volunteers Earl Aguila and Kira Josephson are at the center of a new dispatch in In These Times, part of the publication’s “Left Out: The Missing Election Narratives” series. A journalist shadowed the two Bard College students as they canvassed the Olney neighborhood of North Philadelphia two days before the election, knocking doors alongside Unite Here Local 274 for Kamala Harris. The piece explores the left electoral ecosystem built in 2024, what it couldn’t overcome, and what it’s carrying into the cycles ahead.

“If that money was spent over the course of four years to do community organizing to actually focus on shifting public opinion, then we could be at a different place today,” noted Sunrise Movement’s Stevie O’Hanlon.
