IN-PERSON

We are looking for people to join us on the ground for voter outreach and knock doors in key battleground states. We recognize that not everyone is in a position to travel and organize in person. But if you are able, you have a huge opportunity to help defeat Donald Trump.

There is nothing as effective as in-person conversations with voters. It’s critical that we get out there in a safe way, especially given that the vast majority of voter outreach has been limited to phone, text, and digital this year.  We are committed to doing this in a safe way, using COVID protocols vetted by medical and public health professionals and tested by organizers.

Seed the Vote, in collaboration with our local partners, is recruiting volunteers to join us in person in Pennsylvania and Arizona. (Our Florida program has been cancelled). Please consider joining the effort.

Arizona

We are bringing people to Phoenix, Arizona to knock doors with UNITE/HERE Local 11 and LUCHA! UNITE/HERE Local 11 is a union that represents over 30,000 workers employed in hotels, restaurants, airports, sports arenas, and convention centers. LUCHA fought SB 1070, took down Sheriff Arpaio, and is building the power of Latinx communities on the ground in AZ!

Arizona is the state closest to the West Coast which is most likely to deliver the decisive Electoral College vote to defeat Trump. And with the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Senate race in Arizona is more strategic than ever. Mark Kelly, the Democratic candidate for Senator in Arizona, could be sworn in as early as November 30th due to this race being a special election. That would give him the chance to make a major impact on a lame duck Senate and help block a Trump nomination to the Supreme Court.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is the most likely state in the US to deliver the decisive Electoral College vote to defeat Trump. Philadelphia will also have 17 early voting centers, which start opening Tuesday, September 29.  People will be able to register to vote and then cast a ballot on the spot at these early voting centers through the October 19 voter registration deadline!  For people who are already registered, it’s a way to avoid long lines or mail delays.

This is a huge get-out-the-vote opportunity. It’s like an Election Day that lasts all month, with a voter registration drive thrown in–and in the wake of a Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision that requires all mail-in ballots to be placed in two envelopes (the “naked ballot” decision), it’s more important than ever that we promote this more reliable option for early, in-person voting. The Philadelphia branch of the Working Families Party is organizing volunteer teams to spread the word in the neighborhoods around each early-voting location, and we’ll be joining them.

Safety

We have a strong plan in place for COVID, developed by our partners in consultation with an epidemiologist and following public health recommendations. Our partners on the ground have been sending canvassers into the field with these protocols since early August, and have been refining them based on that experience. All participants will be required to comply with these protocols and will receive safety training prior to working in the field.

Costs

We will be raising money to support the travel and lodging costs of folks who are able to make the commitment. Do not let costs be a barrier to your participation as travel stipends are available. If you are in the position to cover your own costs, or support other’s participation, great! You can also help us by starting your own fundraising page.
